The Foundation is looking for an Accountant to manage our day-to-day accounting and payroll activities. The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and good organization skills, resourcefulness, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. We can promise you no two days will be the same. The work is challenging and rewarding.
This position will report to the Director of Accounting.
Your responsibilities will include:
Month End
Conduct a monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts, credit cards
Track accrued liabilities and prepaid expenses; post adjusting journal entries
Calculate amortization expense; post journal entries
Produce donation receipts and record donations in Keela
Manage rent roll and follow-up with Building Manager on outstanding receivables
Accounts Payable
Match purchase orders to corresponding invoices and documents
Charge and record expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers
Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies
Monitor and prepare payments based on due dates on supplier invoices
Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos
Schedule and prepare expenses to be paid on a bi-weekly basis
Payroll
Process payroll
Respond to all payroll related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Taxes
Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements
Collect and remit sales taxes monthly
Record sales taxes by charged by vendors
Month End
Conduct a monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts
Track accrued liabilities and prepaid expenses, post adjusting journal entries
Calculate amortization expense, post journal entries
General
Maintain cash float in retail store(s)
Process bank deposits
Monitor inventory management system for retail shop
Maintain accounting filing system
Maintain confidentiality for all accounting and payroll related information
Follow accounting policies and procedures
Assist with the audit
Provide information to third-party accounting and audit partners as requested
Provide additional clerical and administrative support as required

Qualifications:
University Degree/College Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
Proven ability to maintain composure when handling complex issues
Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of QuickBooks
Strong communication skills
Excellent Organizational skills
Excellent English language skills (written and oral). Cantonese would be an asset
