Investor-State LawGuide: www.investorstatelawguide.com, the company’s flagship product, is focused on the field of investment treaty law, and is used by the world’s leading law firms, government, academic institutions and international organizations. The Vancouver-based company is looking for a Technology Lead to manage the existing development projects and to work directly with the CEO on developing the company’s technology strategy.

In this role, the Technology Lead will have responsibility for the end-to-end development process, and is an opportunity for a person to apply their skills and experience to see an immediate impact by improving existing products and building new products. The role will also involve exploring applications for new technologies, including machine learning and cloud computing. This position can be broken down into four key areas:

1. Software Development Management

• Build rapport and influence a globally distributed team to ensure decisions regarding software architecture and development are aligned with product goals. 

• Use technical expertise and experience in larger projects to develop cost estimates and timelines for new product builds and updates to existing products. 

• Employ agile project management skills and innovative staging plans focused on delivery dates that do not undermine the design and architecture of the solution required for the release.

1. Technology Strategy:

• Examine UI/UX elements of existing products and develop release strategies for improving and adding new features and requirements.

• Work with the CEO to evaluate the ROI for developing new features and products.

• Conduct review of existing technical teams and worth the CEO to create strategies for resourcing projects.

1. Research and Development:

• Explore possibilities for applying machine learning technologies and cloud computing technologies for existing and new products.

Experience and Qualifications:

The position is ideal for an ambitious candidate who is looking to apply their skills and experience in a senior management role within an organization, and who is motivated by seeing the value products generate for users.

1. Basic Requirements

• Post-Secondary Degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline.

• 5-10 years’ overall experience with a proven track record as a software development manager, technical project manager or related position.

• Experience working on large development projects (preferably on SaaS and complex database projects).

• Excellent communication and collaborative skills to engage with technical teams as well as content teams to effectively manage customer expectations and resolve conflicts that balance both client and company needs.

1. Preferred Requirements:

• Experience working with Microsoft ASP.NET.

• Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.

• Experience working on and managing teams within an agile development environment.

• Knowledge or experience in the field of legal knowledge management.

Remuneration:

• Competitive base annual base salary.
